Art Therapy Express Program, Inc., with 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization status, is an instructional art program that allows children, teenagers and adults to create meaningful works of art.
The goals of the Art Therapy Express Program are:
- To provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to continue their art education throughout and beyond the traditional 12-year format
- To promote social inclusion and community integration of students
- To increase knowledge and skills in artistic self-expression
- To foster independence by gaining greater control and mastery in utilizing adaptive technology
- To educate direct support professionals/parents in the utilization of art as self-expression, supporting self determination and self advocacy for the people they serve
- To create a model expressive arts program (visual arts, creative movement, music and drama) that will be implemented by local school districts, hospitals and community centers on an ongoing basis
