Mission Statement:
To facilitate creative expression for people with disabilities through an innovative art program.
We believe that:
• The arts are a unifying force among people.
• All people, regardless of financial, physical, intellectual or other challenges, are entitled to arts education.
• Participation in the arts is essential to human development and fundamental to our community health, vitality and spirit.
• Arts education should reflect the community’s rich cultural and ethnic diversity while contributing to the enrichment of the artistic experience.
• Participating in and appreciating a chosen art form enables people to discover and experience the beauty and power of their own unique abilities.
• High faculty and staff morale is an essential element of our success and should be ensured by all measures necessary.
Vision:
Art Therapy Express Program, Inc. (ATE) is driven by a creative vision of the future both as a community arts center (Kaleidoscope) and as a network for the delivery of arts education throughout Delaware. This vision was forged by a group of community stakeholders with a passion for the success of ATE.
ATE will be serving the community as a place for teaching, learning and gathering for people in the visual and performing arts from every age, race, gender and ability as a network for the delivery of arts education throughout the community. ATE will be connecting the visual and performing arts community together to jointly ensure that art awareness, education and practice is accessible and available to all members of our community without distinction.
A comprehensive visual and performing arts curriculum will be uniting students of all ages, ability levels and backgrounds in the pursuit of excellence in the arts. Instruction will be delivered throughout the community to ensure access to students of diversity.
Our new facility will be providing a comfortable environment and space for instruction, exhibition, practice and performance. Kaleidoscope will be serving as a place for education, gathering, and conversation about the arts.
The public will be fully aware and supportive of ATE, Kaleidoscope, and its’ effective network for delivering arts education in the community. A collaborative culture will have emerged throughout the arts community as all art organizations work together to foster diversity, lifelong learning and a full recognition and appreciation of the arts. Effective fundraising efforts will be providing the financial resources to ensure the vision.
