The goals of the Art Therapy Express Program, are:
To provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to continue their art education throughout and beyond the traditional 12-year format
To promote social inclusion and community integration of students which would have students with and without disabilities interacting in the arts together to create awareness, understanding, and respect
To increase knowledge and skills in artistic self-expression
To foster independence by gaining greater control and mastery in utilizing adaptive technology
To educate direct support professionals/parents in the utilization of art as self-expression, supporting self determination and self advocacy for the people they serve
To create a model expressive arts program (visual arts, creative movement, music and drama) that will be implemented by local school districts, hospitals and community centers on an ongoing basis
